............................................
After that dreadful winter
when the ice began to thaw
The crew assembled on the deck
It was time that we pressed on

A sense of dread engulfed us
You could see it in their eyes
Their sacred oaths not binding
The time was nigh

But there were several from among the crew
They took their stand with us
By their very nature
of loyalty and trust

I saw the rest in pity
For the shame of what they had done
For who could deal so falsely
And escape the wrath to come

In the arctic waters
We huddled in the cold
And saw the sails of Discovery
Slowly getting lower and lower

And in our little shallop
We prayed an earnest prayer
And saw our lives so clearly
In the frigid arctic air

Oh my son my son had I foreseen
the way which we would come. If only I had known
But we all go to sea in vain looking for something
That finds us first. Every sailor goes home.

I have been to sea
Ive been cast away
And I hear the voice of God
Today

The earth will stagger
like some kind of drunk
Therell be great wonders
With the moon and sun

But you take courage
Though stars fall from the sky
The tribulation is over
Our redemption is nigh

  • Great work Karl one of the most creative and captivating songs that I have heard for a very long time .

  • @rockingphil58 Thanks Phil. Really appreciate the nice comment. I always felt that odd time signatures work well with rock. Very best, Karl

  • @ichingiching Thanks Mike, Yes, I loved your rendition of Lord Franklin. I think there’s something of ourselves to be seen in the tragic lives of these explorers.

  • Very captivating song!! T:)

  • @ljped Thanks, my friend. -really appreciate the feedback.

  • Wonderful epic song that has a timeless feel about it.

  • @JeremiahStarling I cant’ tell you how much I appreciate that comment. Seriously, it makes it all worthwhile. I think all artists feel a compulsion to do what they do and, by and large, it all gets scattered to the wind. But if the music can touch someone.. well, that’s what it’s all about. -Karl.

  • There's something so haunting about your music. I feel it in my eyes and throat, in my mind and in my heart. It's hard for me to properly explain. I want for myself something so meaningful and in your storytelling, imagery, and voice, there's a life that calls to me that I do not know.

    Your music is an experience.
