Mining Valley - In 1912 Cory Brothers opened the Cwm Fuwch Colliery drifts at the head of the Cwm y Fuwch Valley. In 1914, coal from Cwm Fuwch Mine was being screened and loaded at Aber Colliery Sidings after Aber Colliery was closed. Cwm Fuwch mined the No 2 Rhondda seam.

In 1929 Cwm Fuwch Colliery was abandoned.

Also in 1929 Cwm Llo Colliery was opened to mine the No 3 Rhondda seam, but this did not prove viable and it never went into full production.

  • Not sure what you mean by the apparently open "doorway?"

  • @Henllan Cwm Fuwch is a valley off the Ogmore Valley in South Wales about 10 miles from Bridgend. The whole area was a mining area until a ceratain lady changed all that in the mid 80s .

  • Great video and invocative. Was this in Mid Wales and, if so, could you tell us where abouts ? I assume the apparently open "doorway" was not an adit ?

    :o)
