Reviving an old idea in a new way, Lucky Cremas Company is selling their Bonmac HST 103&105 which use the syphon brewing method to make a tasty cup of coffee.

The Bonmac series uses a halogen light to heat the water. As the pressure builds in the lower bowl, the water is forced into the upper container and brews the coffee. once it is removed from the heat, the bottom is left in a vacuum state and all the coffee is sucked into the lower chamber leaving the unwanted coffee grinds stuck in the filter. The whole process can brew coffee in under a minute.

As the water reaches the top, it has cooled to just below boiling temperature so it doesn't burn the coffee and maintains the light taste. Stirring is also important to the method to maintain an easy flow of water.

Originally developed by a Scottish Marine engineer who used brass for his design, Bonmac has a stylish glass body and comes with 3 or 5 heaters.

  • I was wondering how the water entered the top, so glad to you talked me through the process.

  • with the price, i will just stick with my french press...

  • It looks like the heating source is "like" the Glass Stove Tops.

One could use an element like that to heat. Those replacements aren't much if your search enough for it.

Good luck. One day I'll make one but money right meow is tight.

  • From my understanding you can buy a single Halogen light around 75-100 watts and use it. I can't find the link to the info I found but I believe that's what it said. I'm assuming a larger wattage bulb would heat it faster... But I know those put out some heat. Anyone tried this?

  • @417musick7 no shit. we want to know where to buy the halogen heaters, not the pyrex of butane burners

  • It can make coffee in under one minute, if you disregard the grind time and boil time...

  • The 3-burner version costs $11,000 .... time to make a single-burner version. Some U.S. company should make one and offer it for $1,000. I'd buy one!

  • @catsthyme

I know it's a long time coming waiting for a reply but I thought I'd add it incase someone wants the info.

Everything you see here can be bought at a Lab Store "BioChemist, Chemist" A link to a Full kit which I wouldn't buy because its about $195. LINK to Main Site: avogadroslabsupply
