http://bit.ly/screencast-tips We interviewed the Chief Evangelist for Techsmith to solicit tips for better screen cast videos.

Screencasting is a popular way to create video tutorials, specifically very useful for showcasing tutorials on software, websites, etc... You may also use screen capture software to obtain b-roll "footage" to add to your videos when you need to, for example, showcase a website that someone is referencing, etc....

Betsy from Techsmith, the makers of Camtasia, Snagit, and Jing, told us that the best tip is - use movement in your screencast video tips. She says to "look towards Hollywood". In other words, you will see that all professional video, and in particular - trailers, movies, etc... have a lot of motion, panning, zooming etc... In other words, with movement affects and PIP, etc... - you can make your video appear more like a video and less like a boring screen cast presentation...

Betsy also talks a bit about the importance of mobile video and the fact that the most recent version of Camtasia has functionality to better output screen cast videos for mobile devices.
