"No man shall attain the shores of the ocean of true understanding except he be detached from all that is in heaven and on earth. Sanctify your souls, O ye peoples of the world, that haply ye may attain the station that God hath destined for you ... they that thirst for the wine of certitude must cleanse themselves from all that is earthly - their ears from idle talk, their minds from vain imaginings, their hearts from worldly affections ...." The Book of Certitude p.1 (Baha'u'llah, circa 1861)

@irajkhodadoost Thank you for your input Mr. Khodadoost. I wish the both of you a productive conversation.
@pawnraider I hope I was of any help to you, and I hope I have made myself clear by now that my intentions are not to argue. My intentions were to answer you while educating the audience of this video at the same time. I hope Mr. Khodadoost can help you better understand the station of Bahá'u'lláh regardless of any hostilities that you may currently harbor to what you know not. God is Love.

Glad that you have ordered the book. Yes, every religion (including the Baha'i Faith) has a beginning (1844/1863) and an end. According to Baha'u'llah, the effectiveness of each religion is about a thousand years beyond which there is division and confusion. In terms of Christianity, look at the history of Orthodox/Catholics (1000 ad), Inquisition/Crusades (1,100-1,500 ad), Catholics/Protestants (1,500's) etc. Youtube/e-mail will be fine until you become an independent searcher.

The followers of all religions await the return of a Messiah (reincarnation of Krishna, 5th Buddha, return of Jesus, Mahdi, etc.) and they are all right. Baha'is believe in progressive revelations; i.e., all religions come from the same source, there is no difference and no dichotomy except for man's arrogance and limitations. If there is one God, He does not send conflicting messages. "God is one; man is one; and all the religions agree". Peace!

@irajkhodadoost Why not start with the justification of your faith from where it must start and where it must inevitably end, namely the Bible? By the way, I’ve ordered the book you’ve suggested and it should arrive in about a week. How or where do you suggest we discuss the book? By email, start a yahoo group or…?
-
Dear friend, you are right in the sense that considering anyone as God or the Father is indeed heretical. Baha'is consider Baha'u'llah as return of Jesus in the "Glory" of the Father. He is considered the latest Manifestation of God. Consider studying one of His many Writings, "The Book of Certitude" and I will be glad to chat with you afterwards: "No man shall attain the shores of the ocean of true understanding except he be detached from all that is in heaven and on earth" p. 1

One thing that Baha'u'llah is emphatic about is that we discuss lovingly, but we do not argue trying to prove our point, to those who are hostile to His vision because that would be contrary to His mission for humanity which is ultimate oneness and peace on earth. Yes, Jews are still waiting for Jesus to appear, and He says in the Bible that He shall come again "like thief in the night". In the words of Abdu'l-Baha, "Don't even open your mouth if you don't find a receptive ear".

@pawnraider The "Prince of Peace" was never a title of Jesus. There is a popular song (Handel's Messiah) in which Jesus is called "Everlasting Father", but the Bible nowhere calls Him such. Jesus is never referred to in the Bible, nor in ancient Chrisitan literature, as "Prince of Peace" nor "Everlating Father".
-
@pawnraider Bahá'u'lláh Himself wrote:
"Say, O concourse of bishops! Trembling hath seized all the kindreds of the earth, and He Who is the Everlasting Father calleth aloud between hearth and heaven. Blessed is the ear that hath heard, and the eye that hath seen, and the heart that hath turned toward unto Him Who is the Point of Adoration of all who are in the heavens and all who are on earth." (The Promised Day is Come, p.101)
-
@pawnraider Bahá'í Hand of the Cause (evangelist) John E. Esslemont wrote:
"With regard to the titles 'everlasting Father,' 'Prince of Peace', Baha'u'llah repeatedly refers to Himself as the manifestation of the Father, of whom Christ and Isaiah spoke, whereas Christ always referred to Himself as the Son; and Baha'u'llah's declared His mission to establish peace on earth, while Christ said: 'I came not to send peace but a sword.'" (Baha'u'llah and the New Era, chap. 13)

@pawnraider "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be on His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)

@MrJapilz From what little I've read about it he is asking all to believe that he is the return of Jesus Christ which all these leaders and rulers rightly refused to believe. It's interesting to note that my OP was ignored and deflected to another unrelated issue.
-
@pawnraider What you say is sensible from an uninformed and apathetic point of view - it really doesn't seem like you have researched the work for yourself from other sources. If you are concerned about the validity of the Summons of the Lord of Hosts (if it is the same as original form), you can make an inquiry to the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís of your country regarding the validity of the texts that you read. The originals are still in tact for evidence. Also, research online.
-
@MrJapilz There's no proof that this book is what you say it is. Note that its copyright is after the fact or events!
-
@pawnraider Please read The Summons of the Lord of Hosts by Bahá'u'lláh in reference.bahai.org to see the prophecies for yourself. The Surih-I-Haykal had been disseminated to the peoples of the world before the events had come true. Such claims like the fall of Napoleon III was absurd at the time. That emperor disregarded the message, so Bahá'u'lláh sent him another. Napoleon III, once a powerful emperor, would become a part of the vestiges of history while Bahá'u'lláh's call augments today.
-
@MrJapilz "The rulers who had not followed the laws fell one by one." Claims such as this are always made after the fact.
-
@pawnraider The Jews rejected Jesus because they did not see the prophecies fulfilled as they wished to see it. If Jesus has taught us one thing (He taught many things), it is the fact that God chooses how prophecies are fulfilled. God is unlimited and cannot be confined to the human mind as anything other than infinite and unknowable. Although the term God and the Manifestation of God is interchangeable for practical purposes, the reality is that they are entirely separate entities.
-
@pawnraider The Summons of the Lord of Hosts is a Bahá'í book that contains many prophecies from Bahá'u'lláh regarding the future of the world. In the Surih-I-Haykal, Bahá'u'lláh reviews the leaders of the world and provides advice on the necessary actions needed to maintain national security and the advancement of human civilization. The rulers who had not followed the laws fell one by one. If humanity does not unite, it will be destroyed by its own actions or some external force.
-
@tyrashida In no way is Mirza Husayn Ali the "everlasting Father". Only God Himself is the everlasting Father. To suggest otherwise is heretical.
-
@pawnraider John 10:30 I and my Father are one. (King James Bible) Could it be that Jesus Christ the Son and Baha'u'llah the everlasting Father are one? or shall we as we did before take up stones to stone Him (John 10:31)? Watch and Pray. Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (King James Bible)
This video helps shed some light on the significance of Bahá'u'lláh's Mission. Prophecies are mentioned from Krishna, Isaiah, Zoroaster, Buddha, St. John the Divine, and Muhammad. Please enjoy this video.
Please investigate Bahá'u'lláh's claim to be the Promised One of All Ages, and search "Baha'i Reference Library" in Google to have access to the Bahá'í Writings.
