are you even a real doctor? 1/ there are different types of IBS. 2/ the fact patients who suffer from IBS can be sensitive the a LARGE array of foods suggests food-ibs is not a causal link 3/ the very fact I am lying in pain now after eating a healthy, mostly raw vegan diet for months contradicts everything you just said about pasta and pizza.

@jonpro15 ya, I'm not saying IBS is not real...of course it is. What i'm saying is that it can be prevented in over 90% of the time by eating properly and exercising...however, your girlfriend seems to be the exception. I'm sure this Dr. understands this as she was just making a general statement. I really don't know what else it could be if she doesn't have Crohn's. I would still highly suggest having her take good quality probiotics...or at least discuss probiotics with her Dr.

@tonyg0123 Hey Tony, She was tested for crohn's and she almost never consumes dairy. At first we thought she had developed lactose intolerance. After seeing a specialist, it was basically narrowed down to IBS after all test. She suffers from terrible stomach pains and constipation, only when she doesn't stick to her special diet. Now that she eats specific foods at certain times, and has cut out all preservatives, almost all dairy, all fats (except from nuts, olives and avocado). IBS is real lol

@jonpro15 there are the rare occasions where people need special treatment, but I think this Dr. is talking about the overall majority of Americans who have all these health problems due to lack of exercise and horrible eating habits. Is your girlfriend on good probiotics??? I would highly recommend that. I would also recommend her to cut back on all dairy products if she has a high daily intake. If she does all this and she still has problems, I would bet she has bad genetics..maybe crohn's?

What an idiot you are... For you to be a professional and say this you are a complete idiot. My girlfriend is 22 years old. How can she be to old to process wheat.? She is physically fit and eats a clean diet.. meaning All her fats come from nuts and avocatos and olive oil, her carbs come from whole wheat and vegetables, and her protein comes from beans and lean chicken. She doesn't eat fast food and NO desserts, no added sugars no preservatives. and now she has IBS. What you gotta say bout dat?

Secondly, there are ways to help control it, whether it's hypnotherapy or counseling. I tend to worry A LOT so the counseling helps me, but if you are struggling with this there are people out there who do care visit helpforibs dotcom

First of all you ignorant P O S***, I feel sorry for all of your patients! IBS is very REAL and if you knew how to do your job correctly you would know that people with IBS have a very strong brain-gut connection and there is no cure for it BUT that is why hypnotherapy helps. As soon as i was diagnosed i COMPLETELY changed my diet! NO coffee, alcohol, i even quit smoking, anything that was a trigger i do not eat and i only buy organic, does it help completely..NO!

@hiddenopal Yes it is about your state of mind, as well, you are correct, two things, what you eat, and what you stress about, gives IBS, both 100% curable, saddly people for some reason, don't want to hear that, as without there condition, they have no importance, they become there diss- ease, shame , what a waste, when all they have in life is an illness, ?????
IBS is NOT bull! Maybe if you suffered yourself you would understand...
