  • Those are pretty sobering statistics, Glen.

When my son turned 12, his nurse practioner taught him how to do a testicular self exam and told him to do it monthly. Being 14 now, I still have to remind him now and again but I'm glad he understands the importance of it.

  • @debbieomi - funny, but you'd think it would be no effort at all to get a boy of any age to "inspect" his genitals! Still, good to remind even those who are so intimately familiar with themselves.

  • My mustache doesn't grow very well at all because of my cleft lip. There is certainly a lack of knowledge when it comes to cancers which impact men... actually men's health is just not talked about.

  • @tattooskin72 -You can always do a John Waters. Or you could do a fu manchu mustache - just grow out the edges of your upper lip. Alternately you can just make a video about cancer awareness and tell them about people like me who are taking donations. It all works!

  • @allbabiesareatheists Eek!

Okay... You had me at instrument. o_0 An anal pap smear would definitely suck!

  • @L00NGB00W - it's not as bad as you probably think it is. Also - look up the instrument they would need to use to scrape (yes SCRAPE) your prostate with should you decide to wait until you actually have a problem. A finger is far more friendly.

  • @allbabiesareatheists I suppose I should. I've never had a physical.

I'm just a little wary of having someone's fingers where the Sun don't shine. =\

  • Thank you for this! I reminded my dad to go in for a "thorough" check-up last year when I began to develop uterine cancer, since the doctor thought I might have Lynch Syndrome (a hereditary condition). He had been procrastinating, but he made an appointment after I called. It's a good thing he did, as he may be developing prostate cancer. Hopefully, he caught it soon enough to beat the crap out of it and come through intact.

  • @allbabiesareatheists lol Oh, he's inspecting alright. I don't have to remind him about taking a shower every night anymore and they last forever. lol He's just not looking for the changes the doctor told him about.

  • @L00NGB00W you can still support by donating, telling people about donating with me or others and making videos about prostate cancer awareness. You should also have a checkup if you haven't this year! Set a good example!

  • I already have a beard, so I guess it's cheating...

But I've gone with the handlebar moustache.
