Using the direct output from my new RH450 amp heavily armed with features - among them a great distortion. This kind of lick sounds best played with a pick - without question!
Playing over a D7 chord flavor, based on the D minor pentatonic scale with the major third added

  • hey, im new to this so excuse me for my naievety but whats that on top of your bass amp?

  • THAT IS my bassamp! LOL!

  • Marlow Its nice to see someone who truely enjoys playing the bass. I played professionally 20 years ago and watching you play made me take some of my basses out of he closet after 20 years, set them up, bought a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T and played again. My 8 year old never saw me play. I've forgot more than I'll ever relearn but it was fun playing again. Its amazing in the improvements in ampflication for Bass today. 20 years ago I had a Sunn stack,Crown amp/preamp system.

Nice to hear, thx for telling me:)

  • Is that the lick from "Had to cry today"? Sounds just like it

  • Just off the top of my head, but i guess that kind of bluesy pentatonic lick sounds like a million rock songs

  • @Zarok63 it's called a preamp. it basically puts the settings of a normal amp in a separate part of the amp, and the amp itself is below it. these are very expensive as far as i know.

  • @Zarok63

The amp is what's on top, the cabinet (or speaker) is on the bottom... There's no shame in asking!

  • so how are power chords played? is it like 2 frets on one string being played on once or is it like 2 or so frets on a few different strings and then strummed together? im sorry im kinda new to this bass style with chords

  • @Zarok63 its a piece you put on top of some bass amps for volume, tone and stuff like that. you need that for some bass amps that are about 100 watts and up. i think its call "amp head" or something like that.

  • LEMMY \m/

  • @bergAgreb you're dumb

  • @Zarok63 its called a bass head
