Cheryl, a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, holds the distinction of having been the business partner of Gail Lindsey, the namesake of the award, from 1992 until 1996. Their firm, Design Harmony, shaped the guiding principles of the green movement. Steering the firms energies toward environmental projects was a the basis of their partnership. Every project was evaluated with respect to five critical issues siting, energy and water efficiency, indoor air quality, alternative building materials, and waste reduction, which became the organizing tenets of the US Green Building Councils LEED® rating System.
