Actually, it was a healthy discussion, I don't know why would someone mind it, it would be utterly boring if everyone'd left comments like: 'wow', 'great', 'genius'. As if we already don't know that. The most boring comments are like: Oh, let people believe what they want to believe, oh I'm 17 years old catholic and I love this, oh give peace a chance... You boring people, what's so bad about confronting opinions and a bit of philosophical rencontres?

Wagner was a great artist. Artists can be great without being smart.

I'm from Japan, but I would consider this one of the greatest pieces ever devised by man.

    Wagner was a true genius.

The first 4 minutes are probably one of the first and most effective uses of musical minimalism.

For his blatant hypocrisy and prolific ad hominem usage, the winner of the Shit-Throwing World Championship is... TheLordVallon! *applause*

Thanks for the upload. The opening pages of what is probably the most monumental recording project ever undertaken, the Decca Ring Cycle produced by John Culshaw with the finest recording engineers in the world. Of course there were some weaknesses, e.g. Hans Hotter was really too old to sing Wotan, also Flagstad was well past her prime (Rheingold only) but overall it was, and still is 50 years on, a triumph!
