Early footage of the band performing Jewel with typical psychedelic effects of the time. Steve Currie was a damn good bass player. This is either late 1970 or early 1971. I do not know where this footage emanates from (French or German TV perhaps?). I have transferred this from a 'bargain basement' video released in 1986.

..i loved this song... so much... its shows steve curries amazing bass lines.... the song is centered around e and g chords.... using the minor pentatonic scare... i love marc delayed/war/war solo... hendrix influence... and the bongo solo adds to this amazing track.....

Second rate guitarist eh? I've been playing guitar for 25 years, god only knows how he got that sound. I've tried to replicate it but to no avail. Make no mistake Marc was a technically brilliant guitarist. And how long had he been playing properly, 4 years? Amazing

Listen to that solo! I used to dance around to the room to this video when I was a kid. It was a fan club video with a voiceover from Adam Ant. I had to stop watching this though when my stepmum told me that Bolan had been decapitated in the car crash and I started having nightmares.

No, no , nooo - no! The Jewel is from the "T.REX" - album recorded in 1970 (the brown album) and it was the second song from the beginning. "A Beard Of Stars" was released before this, somewhere year 1969 I believe. An another amazing album, that's for sure!

If I remember correctly, it was released on the final Tyrannosaurus Rex album 'A Beard of Stars'.
