DC Universe Online Goes Free-To-Play

Welcome back to Clevver Games everyone I'm your host Andrea Rene. Popular superhero MMO DC Universe Online is officially joining the free-to-play movement. Sony Online Entertainment has announced that both PC and Playstation 3 gamers will be able to download the game for free.

Sony admitted they always wanted to do a free to play with the MMO and that this isn't a way to combat a lack of subscribers. Instead, Executive Producer Lorin Jameson said that game actually cost Sony significantly more than they had anticipated.

There will be three versions of the game, free, premium, and legendary. Those of you that don't want to pay will have access to the current DC Universe gameplay with the ability to create two characters and join a league. Through microtransactions you'll be able to buy game packs, powers, and additional characters.

Premium members are those that have spent at least $5 dollars on the game, including former paid subscribers. You'll get more characters and inventory slots along with higher cash limits.

Legendary players will get the best features but it costs $15 bucks a month. You'll get all the downloadable content packs included plus over 15 character slots, more than 60 inventory slots, unlimited in-game currency, and the ability to form your own leagues.

DCU is awesome game, this has gotta b like the first ever Proper MMO on a console. I think finally the devs hav managed to break in the PS3's Cell chip lol. I wonder if this game cud run on the Xbox 360?? hmm...
