I am having the L2-L3 & L3-L4 PLIF next week. I am already fused at L4-L5. I have not been given a very good guarantee on the outcome because I have had this problem for so long (thanks to Workers Comp!). I do have a good Doctor, and I am going to be in my neighborhood hospital. Wish me luck!
I am just under 4 weeks post-op from a PLIF with laminectomy. It looks so scary!! I was scared to death before going in for my surgery, but after having it, I can honestly say I've had worse tooth pain than what I've had with this recovery! The morphine definitely helped immediately post-op, but even after that was gone I felt really good. If you're in chronic pain, definitely consider this. But PLEASE go with a reputable NEUROSURGEON. They are the true nerve docs and will do the best for you!
I had this surgery done 1 month ago and I am back to work! Do not feel any of the pain I had before the surgery! I just walked over 4 miles today with my corset on but it feel so awesome to walk more than a block without my backpain and leg going numb! The only thing I still have going on is some left foot and hip area tingling and minor soreness at the site, but other than that this was a A+ for me!!
@lloene you will have all sorts of sensations in your legs...and you may have back pain similar to before surgery.....be patient.....everything is healing.....including nerves.....it took me about 6 months before i starting feeling myself.....hang in there....
i had this procedure done 3 years ago....L4 L5 S1.....it is a rough surgery AND recovery.......the surgery was 7 hours....inpatient rehab for 2 weeks....off work for 6 weeks.....do exactly what your surgeon tells you.....rehab, exercise, walking...whatever......i feel great now.......great work by dr craig callewart at NorthTexas Spine Center (Dallas Texas...Baylor Hospital)
any one who wants real life experience information can contact me. I ll be glad to give you what ever info i can give you my emailadress is sigrist.christian@gmail.com
I had this surgery 1 month ago, I do not have the horrible pain that I was in, but now my leg still hurts, just not as bad, but my feet burn at night so bad that I can't get any sleep and my legs ache Has anyone else had these problems and if so what did you do for it
I just had this surgery on August 30, 2011 the worstl post operative pain I have ever been in But I am now out of the pain I was in all in my lower back L5. I now have a plate and two screws in my lower back. I am healing well no infections. folllowing your doctors instructions very very important.
@Msgeorgiasweetness I am having this done in a few months, a little frightened about surgery, but at this point, life not to good with chronic pain,, so over it, have done s1 threw to l4, thinking that posts have been comforting, i hope that i can get back to doing things soon, being a very active person fire fighter, farm worker, netball umpire etc etc, to what i have now is a little, no not a little agreat frustration.......
