I was prompted to write this song via Jon Foreman's Twitter, when he issued a challenge to his followers to write a unique song called "Tomorrow's Song". This is my version.
Blinded by the wool over your eyes
That hides away the scars.
Close your eyes and think how can I simplify
It's impossible to cover up the pain.
I long for a day when I am not ashamed to
Show my scars out in the open.
To breathe a sigh of relief when my eyes are opened.
I'll sing tomorrow's song.
Yes, I'll sing tomorrow's song.
You and I are frighteningly alike.
Hiding in a hole.
Digging deeper right until there's no escape.
Now we're trapped and left crying for help.
I long for a day when I am not ashamed to
Show my scars out in the open.
To breathe a sigh of relief when my eyes are opened.
I'll sing tomorrow's song.
Yeah, I'll sing tomorrow's song.
Oh...
Can anybody hear me?
Cause I'm dying, I'm dying,
I'm dying down hear.
I'm lost with no escape.
I'm lost with no escape.
I long for a day when I am not ashamed to
Show my scars out in the open.
To breathe a sigh of relief when my eyes are opened.
I'll sing tomorrow's song.
Yes, I'll sing tomorrow's song.
I'll sing tomorrow's song.
