Oh, and why should music only ever be about romance? Aren't other things important, like family, friends, politics, nature, etc.? Romance is wonderful when it works out, but the exclusive obsession with it reveals modern culture to be narcissistic, since romance is always, always a purely personal affair, limited to two people and not applicable to the rest of the world unless you're a swinger (and is that really romance?).

I don't know why music should be so severely limited to only three instruments: guitar, drums, and voice...or why it should be mandated that every singer sing off-key and that this be declared beautiful...or why music should always consist of endless repetition of three or four chords...but this is what music has come to these days.

Speaking of this, most "artists" these days don't even sing. They are actor-models, like, for instance, Britney Spears.

There isn't a single answer to this, and I don't appreciate this subtle accusation that I am some kind of musical tyrant. There are lots of things that are good to listen to, like the traditional music of every culture on Earth. You know, the music of every time period except the last 70 years or so. And I'm 31 years old, so don't tell me I'm an old man.

This stuff is pretty harmless, but still, it's about the same goddamn topic EVERY song is these days: being upset about failed romance.
