Wowlab: Polar Candle, Metamorphistic Device, 2008

This work is a trick picture installation that uses a mirror. A movie distorted into a circular shape is played, and a number of cylindrical mirrors are placed on the table.

Just looking at film on the table, we cannot comprehend what is being played there. But taking a look at the reflection in the cylinders, the distortion is corrected and we can clearly understand what is being played. They cylindrical mirrors reflect the light of their environment and create new vision. This seems just like a blaze that takes surrounding oxygen and burns up. Staring at this imagination blaze, I come to feel that realizing that current reality is not complete with just the self, but is a reflection and awareness, is to understand that reflection.
