it's a long, long dead end road

Kate, while I'm not familiar with your art, I'm familiar with your videos, and I want you to know that they affect me in the same way that you describe that you hope your art will affect people: they kill me with their brilliance and creativity and ... you just do such a great job at uniquely expressing the meaning/humor/art in everyday life.
So, the way I see it, you're already doing your job as an artist and you're doing it incredibly well. I hope I get to see one of your shows someday.

I subscribed to you like a million years ago and have watched every single one of your videos. I've never commented on one, and I'm commenting now.
Just wanted to say I love you.

The other day my friend said he met this youtuber at work. He was telling me this over a voice mail. But he stops and goes "It's not katereadsbooks or k80blog so don't get too excited". I laughed out loud when he said that but it's so true, I love your videos! And in a totally non-creepy way, I love you! ...and art is just missing an f, and therefore humor. add it back! (humor, that is)

"If you're an artist, you're supposed to be cool. If you don't dance, you're not cool. That's just reality." You're awesome.

Maybe you will read Tim Ferriss's book, The Four Hour Work Week, start a business, automate your income stream enough to support a life where you spend 90% of your time creating art and almost no time networking, and live happily ever after.
as an artist, the most money I ever made painting was my neighbor's house; I painted other things, too, but I lost money on those. I was a writer for a while, but, like art, that's pretty much networking and the male genitalia sucking thing...waiting tables is where I shine, although I do tend to spill more coffee than I should.

as an artist, everything you say i love and relate to completely. brilliant. juxtaposition is completely inescapable i think. JESUS CHRIST I HATE NETWORKING. i find art so ridiculous a lot of the time - i listen to myself talk in critique and i'm sort of proud of my vocabulary and sort of like what is this bullshit i am saying. and then it seeps over into your regular life and nobody knows what i'm trying to say ever because i'm just too damn conceptual. where can i see your art?

Me too. But science. And not juxtaposition, but every time I write a paper I have to find a new way to write the same introductory paragraph. And then I feel bad because writing that paragraph isn't as hard as mining coal in a Yorkshire pit for 50 years. I think it's worst right after graduation too.

@BaubleRob Academia is the culprit, I think.
