Day after outlining a plan to expand President Bush's Faith-based initiative, Barack Obama was back before another church group, as he and John McCain jostle for religious voters. NBC's Lee Cowan reports.

2.Ralph nader says that he supports the pharmaceuticals by not supporting single payer health care (i dont know the validity of this, because I dont know obamas health plan)

    3. he does support the telecommunications companies no matter how he tries to spin his actions of voting for fisa.

    4. look at his biggest contributors on opensecrets(dot)org and see all the bankers that support his presidency

With these actions and this support, it proves for me that he will not bring "change" to DC

  • the username therealnews has a video on obamas advisors-they are bill clintons advisors. I dont know to what extent that is true, or to what extent they influence obama, but thats what i know about his advisors.

Now on to the degree of corporate interest- I think you are right. However, he is tied to them enough for me to worry and for me to not vote for him.

    1. He supports the military industrial complex by increasing the already irresponsible pentagon budget

    ...

  • That's because corporations, at least publicly traded ones, are for the most part bonafide psychopaths. Where you get the idea that the degree to which Obama is tied to corporate interests even approaches the degree to which McCain is, well I'll just chalk that up to the lazier side of pessimism.

    Just compare their advisory boards.

  • in my mind obama and mccain are just as bad because they dont represent my interests. they both stand for the corporate and washington elite and will do what they say. Just because one stands for leftist corporations while the other stands for rightist ones doesnt make much difference in my mind. Corporations dont help my interests.

  • Well, I guess you are just going to have to go throw your vote away then, because McCain certainly won't hold up to your standards either. Have fun with living with the consequences for the next four years.

  • and john yoo strongly respects the separation of powers as well!

I dont care how he minces words on this. This was unconstitutional to begin with. By supporting this and "enhancing" this, he is single handedly tearing down the wall of separation between church and state.

If public funds go to churches, thats all I need to know. I dont care how he justifies it, it is still against church and state.

I read his speech, and its a load of bull.

  • Read Obama's actual speech before you put words in Obama's mouth, please. He strongly supports separation of church and state.

  • so now obama wants to properly destroy the wall of separation between church and state, and formalise the informal institution of the bush administration?

    Disgusting.

  • Obama is for more faith-based cooperation and programs, but he won't be expanding Bush's programs, he'll be gutting that office and building a new one, with more respect/oversight for the separation of church and state.

I think the media needs to correct itself on this point. Obama had harsh words for Bush's programs which were basically a kickback scheme to buy fundamentalist votes.
