United B767-300ER Takeoff from Zürich

This is a takeoff from Zürich Airport to Washington Dulles on a beautiful early afternoon in a Boeing 767. The plane takes off from Runway 16 and then does a 270 degree round-a-bout westbound, offering a nice view of the airport and northern Zürich viewed from seat 37A.

During the beginning of the take off, a British Airways A320 can be seen landing on nearby Runway 14. As we barrel down the runway, a Swiss Air A320 and a Singapore Airlines B777 can also be seen taxiing towards Runway 16 for take off.

Why didn't the pilot just turn 90 degree right after take off?

I believe it's because of airspace restriction over the city proper of Zurich. This runway faces SE, and with this airport 5km due north of Zurich, the only way to turn west-bound and avoid Zurich airspace is to roll 270 degrees counterclockwise.

maybe, but with the 767, its the best takeoff from that runway.

This was one of my favorites too. Like the first time I flew to Zurich, this plane was completely full - I was lucky I even got a window seat (3rd row from the back). That might've been part of the lethargic take-off.

i love this takeoff. have done it with Cotinental 767-200, AA 767-300.

Ususally it lifts off earlier though.
