Born in Meerat in 1930,Smt Meera Banerjee became a renowned name at a very early age,she is one of the most prominent exponent of Patiyala gharana & along with her husband Pandit Prasun Banerjee spread the musical fragrance to all corners.Meera ji is unparalleled among female vocalists in Bengal,she is truly a living legend.She was part of the first cultural delegation of India to tour abroad (Soviet Union,Czechoslovakia,Poland ) along with Pandit Ravi Shankar,Pandit Gyan Prakash Ghosh among others.She was conferred with the "Geetashree" title for her musical brilliance at the age of 14.
