On the 5th of June 1968, the first International Children's Games took place in Celje, Slovenia. The participants are children ages 12 - 15 years. The spirit of the games is the enactment of understanding, tolerance and respect.

This video show images from the 5th Winter Games that took place in beautiful Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada in January 2011. Overall, Kelowna came 3rd in the medal count with 2 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze; and West Kelowna came 6th with 2 silver and 2 bronze. We congratulate Seoul, Korea and Gorje, Slovenia for ranking 1st and 2nd respectively. Congratulations to the Lake Country Boys Hockey team who won the gold medal for their section.

The Kelowna 2011 International Children's Winter Games Committee is composed entirely of volunteers working hard to make this event a reality for the Okanagan Valley. Our members are dedicated to making these winter games the best winter games in ICG history. We are proud to be the first city outside of Europe to be invited to host the winter games and are excited to bring this international event to the Okanagan.

The International Children's Winter Games will move to Lanarkshire, Scotland for 2012. See you there!
