@diamondcalves this sounds like a football player. It's different with monkeys. at about 5 inches before contact it bites your leg off. u might be good with the football 'cause it doesn't have brains and it doesn't fight back.

as far as seeing if you are protected. I'm crouched behind a wall out there wondering if it's just my imagination. so I stood up, thumbs in my ears & wiggling my fingers and stuck my tongue out at the assailant in the darkness. yup. sure enough. the next volley went past my head proved it. & there were lots of other situations, too.
