23 June 2009 - David Miliband delived a major speech at the Ujazdowski castle, co-hosted by the British Embassy and demosEuropa on 'European renewal amidst global adversity'. He argued that Europe's 'creation and evolution represent one of the most visionary acts of statesmanship of the 20th century'.
He added that 'two great projects of Europe's past - the single market and enlargement - need to be protected and extended. But Europe's raison d'etre must adapt to new insecurities. It will never succeed based on gratitude for the past, but promise for the future. Europe needs change as well as continuity.'

Damn it how did i know he was going to mention climate change.
I agree on the second point, that is what the European Union is good for, we need a strong united europe that can speak with one voice to deal with the larger powers like china and the USA.
If the EU focused on that instead of "ever closer union" and transfering more powers to Brussels of things that should remain at the state level, there would be less concern
Doing something about the waste would also help win support at home
