Shoulder surgery is like going to war. You have a fifty-fifty chance things can go wrong. And it doesn´t alwyas have to be the surgeon´s fault.

Help ! 3 years after my shoulder replacement I fell on the ice and the bone holding the implant has cracked and the implant has re-alligned ! My pain is controllable only if heavily medicated .my surgeon has me in PT now and waiting for me to finish to decide if I need a total reverse . The PT is killing me ! and for every step forward I take one back ! when doing exercise at home my shoulder frequently POPS and then goes out of place . Yesterday I fell and hurt my back ! Please advise-54 -

Several orthopedists (3) in my town demurred from tackling my degenerated L shoulder, due to all my "issues." Being finally referred to a doc in an adjoining city who does ONLY shoulders, I am very glad to have found him. After conferring with him and hearing results of my MRI and Bone Scan, I expect a very successful outcome. Surgery Sept. 9, 2001, and I believe it to be the "reverse" procedure described.

I clicked this video because my grandmother in her 70's requires Reverse shoulder replacement, she fell and fractured her shoulder, the hospital just gave her a sling and sent her on her way, that happened 11/2 years ago, she went for a check in a different hospital, they took another x ray and her whole shoulder is ''rotten'' as the doctor said, so she needs this surgery, so I'm a little worried.
She is also suing the hospital for improper treatment, and the city council for damage to the road

Dr. Agrawal and his staff at the Shoulder Ctr. are excellent. I had a torn labrum repaired in Dec. 2008 by Dr. Agrawal. This was the first time I had any type of surgery and it went very well. I have a friend who works in the medical field and he sees the good and (not so good) surgeons daily and what kind of a difference a good surgeon makes. He also recommended Dr. Agrawal. Trust me, he is as good as it gets. If you are considering any type of shoulder surgery, you have found your doctor.
How can you verify that a dr's claims are true. If they answer your question "How many total shoulders do you do?" with "I do plenty of shoulders" Is there a source I can use to verify the true number?

Unfortunately, there is no uniform requirement for full disclosure. Because many studies show that specialists doing a lot of just one procedure have better results, some doctors may not disclose their true experience. The best advice we can give is to consider getting a second opinion from a specialist that focuses only on the area or specific procedure you are considering. If your doctor doesn't answer your questions directly or appears concerned about a second opinion, change doctors.
