A fine achievement although according to Wikipedia , Arnold used fixed ropes on the Hinterstoisser Traverse but Steck climbed the route entirely without aid

Waiting for the return of Ueli Steck from Himalaya ;P..

Can somebody explain me point of fast mountaineering? How to admire nature if you have to run up and down like crazy?
-
Ueli set a record, then broke his own record.
-
Ueli didn't have any boot track, looks like Dani had boot track the entire way, so hard to compare. Still an awesome effort for both men.

does april 20th count as a winter ascent? and using fixed ropes??? he's not really claiming that he beat ueli steck's record is he? he most certainly has not. just because hes trying to go fast, he shouldnt through ethics out the window. IF YOU USE FIXED ROPES YOU ARE CLIMBING ROPES, NOT A MOUNTAIN. whoever fixed the ropes for you, they climbed the mountain. An impressive climb but doesnt hold a candle to ueli steck's accomplishments.

@alteregoash you are wrong..1969 Reinhold Messner started with the eiger speed record thing he was the first to set a record, a real one..not just climbing, climbing and runing
-
and then how did he get down...????
-
@ferdiashepherds he soloed the entire Heckmair route, without any form of fixed lines !

Stunning .... Uelil and Dani ..... truly amazing mountain goats the pair of them!
Does anyone know how Ueil crossed the Hinterstoisser Traverse in winter if he didn't use the fixed ropes? Or did he take another route?
so..then,,,there is a sort of normal track to get the summit ...where normal people can hike on?...

@virgoletta Oh no! Please on't understand it wrong. You have still to be a very well experienced alpinist to do such a tour by your own! Otherwise, it is really dangerous. If you would like to ascend the Eiger from the other side via the Mittellegi ridge or west ridge please book a guided tour!
