It was one of the simplest effects in the reel. Basically I threw a stone in the water and then digitally painted out the stone in post production.
I've actually just finished writing up a complete breakdown on my web site.

If you mean the one exploding out of the glass building then yes. Sort of. There are layers that used Particular, but I also included some real fire, smoke and debris footage to sell it a little better. I don't think I quite nailed it. But that's what happens when you don't have time to perfect a shot...

What Program do you use? I'm really interested in that replace Landscape effect ;)

Mainly I use After Effects. But those landscape shots were done quite a while ago when I was using Commotion. It was a great tool at the time, leaps and bounds beyond After Effects until Pinnacle bought them out and failed to support or update it...
I also have a more up to date reel on my channel.
