Do you guys know the slightest thing about Mozart? He would have loved this.

Right now (November 2009) there is a production on Broadway of the musical FINIAN'S RAINBOW. It follows the original 1947 production as closely as possible and is incredibly fresh, vibrant, and unpretentious. It's treated as if it's a masterpiece, to be performed exactly as the creators imagined.... MEANWHILE, the new production of DON G. at NYC is a purposeful deconstruction of what Mozart and Da Ponte devised. Why? Because DG is a boring work that must be "saved" by these "genius" directors?

Just think how much Mozart would hate this hideous production. A travesty.

I think the "acrobatic staging" makes them forget to look at the conductor. Too much times they're not together!
