In the past, the drinking water was so bad here on the Sunshine Coast BC Canada that groups of citizens formed to fight for better water. Since I am a science guy, I took on the study of hydrology, geotechnical engineering and epidemiology among other things. Other people studied the law, politics, economics, journalism and history of drinking water.
The Ministry of Forests, with whom I disagree, counted over 200 landslides in the 64 square kilometers of the Chapman Creek valley. The one I have been studying is an average sized one.
In the 1990s, the MoF spent four million dollars to fix the damage done to the watershed by past logging.
This watershed restoration involved spraying grass seed and sticking willow sticks into the sliding soil. My research shows that their restoration efforts did not work. The MoF, on the other hand is proceeding to allow further logging in the watershed as if it is fully restored. I have much more documentation showing that the MoF and the Forest Industry does very poor quality science.

@vjpillay I met the son of the guy who built the road and he said that the road was built in the late forties. So lets say the road is 63 years old in 2010. OK?
