Former Opposition Leader Mia Amor Mottley asked a series of questions of Prime Minister Stuart indicating that Barbadians are going to sleep every night, none the wiser on a range of worrying issues.
At a branch meeting of the BLP branch of St. James North at St. Alban's Primary she openly asked the Prime Minister the following:-
CLICO
1. Why did the Government let the Oversight Committee come to an end 1 year ago this week and leave Clico without any oversight over it's management decisions? Will the PM indicate whether any payments were made to Clico in respect of Leroy Parris' gratuity that would have been banned if the Government Oversight Committee was still in place?
2. Why did the Government not act with alacrity in appointing a Judicial Manager?
3. Why is the Government not telling Clico and later now the Judicial Manager (who acts now as Manager like a receiver) that they have to take action to defend the Supreme Court Suit that Leroy Parris has brought against Clico for more than $10 million so that he is not given preferred status over the hundreds of Barbadians who are unsecured in trying to get their money back from the EFPAs? Why is the Gov't not stating publicly that Leroy Parris should be held accountable and should be countersued as the Central Bank of Trinidad has sued Duprey and Others in Clico Trinidad?
4. Why is his Government not telling the public of Barbaods and in particular the Clico EFPA Depositors that they are entitled under section 61(3) of the Insurance Act to go and see the Report of the Judicial manager at the Registry of the Supreme Court or any other place the Supervisor of insurance designates?
5. Is the Prime Minister not aware that the government's failure to act promptly as well as the report of his describing Mr Parris as "his pal" has left thousands of Barbadians without confidence in this matter?
6. When will a Forensic Audit be done of Clico to get to the bottom of the facts and to provide confidence that the Gov't is defending the public interest?
APPOINTMENT OF CHIEF JUSTICE
7. Is the Prime Minister aware that his failure to announce the new Chief Justice at the opening of the new Halls of Justice after rushing through an amendment to legislation through Parliament has led to another blow in the confidence in the judicial system?
8. If, as is widely expected the preferred choice for chief justice is no longer available or desirable, why not level with the country and admit you have been caught flat footed without another name in the hat?
What are you saying to all sitting judges if none of them is even being considered for the job? Are you looking for someone who has pledged loyalty to the Blue & Gold of George Street?

9. Why is the Prime Minister not flying the right Blue and Gold of the national flag instead of the blue and gold of the DLP, in broadening the negotiation team and advice on which the Gvt. relies in respect of Red Jet?
10.Given that there are more than 100 Barbadian jobs at stake and millions of dollars of Barbadian investors at stake, was George Hutson the best person to send to trinidad to spearhead negotiations with Jack Warner and the Jamaican Minister? Wasn't Barbados' fate sealed from the word "go"?
11. What is the Government's policy in respect of both LIAT and Red Jet in both of which there are national interests?
ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE
12. When will the PM ensure that persons who cannot now get medical care from Polyclinics and QEH but who have paid taxes and NIS over the years and who he has said deserve to be treated as Barbadians receive this treatment?
These questions must be answered by the Prime Minister to help allay the concerns of Barbadians who are deeply worried at this difficult time in our country's development. His silence as has been referenced even in this year's calypsos is now deafening and definitely NOT golden.
