A special treat for cat lovers :)

"And finally tonight I wanna talk about a guy called Pavlov. He was eastern-european, I think Russian. (He) did the famous experiment: Pavlov's dog. You've probably heard about it. Rang bell, and dog eating food, response times, pavlovian kind of response - it's all about ice cream.

And he wrote his experiments:
Day 1: Pavlov's dog, rang bell, dog ate food. (I'm) very excited. ... very excited here in Russia.
Day 2: Been well accepted here in Russia. Changed my name from Ewans to Pavlov. I'm now called Gareth Pavlov - and fitting in well. Day two rang bell, dog ate two lots of food - very excited.
Day 3: right, rang three bells, dog ate all bunch of food and my leg too. Very excited, win Nobel dog prize for cats.

So he did this he won the prize Nobel you know he won whatever, and Pavlov's dog we all know that. But you've never heard his cat results, did you? If he'd published those he'd been just finished.

Pavlov's cat results:
Day 1: rang bell - cat fucked off. Daa.
Day 2: rang bell - cat went and answered door.
Day 3: rang bell - cat said he'd eaten earlier.
Day 4: went to ring bell on day 4 but cat had stolen batteries.
Final day - day 5: went to ring bell with new batteries, but cat put his paw on bell - so it only made a thunk noise. Then cat rang his own bell. I ate food."

  • Why do people insist on quoting videos and often ruining a good punchline? I'm watching the video so I'll hear it for myself thanks.

  • @conorandrew Well, for instance not everyone on youtube understands exactly what he says (think of learners of english). The whole act is quite good though so it's here for those who might have difficulty with understanding it. You do not need to click on the 'show more' link below the video you know :)

  • This is my favourite Izzard bit for so many reasons - one of them is when he realises his Pavlov sounds a bit Welsh (very excitED!) and he goes with it and suddenly becomes Gareth Pavlov, fitting in well in Russia!

Day five: cat rang his OWN bell. I ate food.

  • Day five: cat rang his OWN bell I ate food

  • @egernhester Thanks.

  • @sivanataraja It's from Definite Article, his best show imo.

  • har, it only works on some animals

  • I love how he's taking the piss out of his shit Russian accent.

  • I find it doubly hilarious that Eddie's having a hard time keeping a straight face. It's a funny joke, no doubt, but when you see the comic trying to not laugh when they're telling a good joke, you know you got a winner.

  • In Soviet Russia, cat conditions you.

  • Day two rang bell, cat went and answered door....... :) loved this, im doing about pavlovs dogs for psychology and its been annoying me, so this was a very nice diversion :) xx

  • @KnechtKalle He's probably well aware of Pavlov's work. He just discarded the finer points for the sake of comedy. Not gonna complain, because it was indeed funny as all hell.

  • @KnechtKalle *he
