@ADMIRALSCORNER hehe loads of people have said that. I still don't know why, since still a few
people still have schmutts they bought new!
-
Just by being very careful and reminding yourself they are very expensive to replace!
-
How did you keep the dome from getting scratched during paint prep ? I was sweating it would get broken.

A superb example of a magnificent restoration job Mike, and expertly recorded as always...5* Bob

These where the good days, even if I wasnt born yet then...
My dad showed me loads of pictures like this of his old cars etc, and all I can say is that it seems a lot better than now. Now everyone cares about money, and every small detail of a restoration. People used to show of there restoration, now they show of there expensive and rare show pieces.
80's hacks where great, and also the fact that you found schmitts very often (my dad found 3 in 1 day before, and all 3 different owners! )

@Jonathanpoll Hi Jonathon. I agree with you completely! The 50s and 60 s were a unique perod to have the pleasure of living through. Schmitts towards the end of that period were cheap and thought t to be of no worth. Only the true entusiast like your Dad went about saving them for future gererations to enjoy. So glad there are survivors!

@ADMIRALSCORNER Yeah, at one pint my dad had 17 messerschmitts... I think there where c3 tigers, 2 175's and the rest 200's. I think there was a lovely original roadster aswell!
