I wonder how this collaboration came to be. This one is a purple factoid that has escaped me. On the chorus, I can safely say that its Eric Leeds working the tenor sax bit and on other parts. Prince probably played the drums. I can tell his flams and fills are very Prince, probably live Simmons drums playing.
Love this song! Both Prince & Deborah were robbed of a big hit when RCA dropped the ball on this one. Definitely one of the better contributions he ever donated to another artist. More promo would have gotten this song up where it belonged. The b-side of this record--"You Better Come Back To Me"--was pulled from the original tracklisting of the album after Prince decided to get involved with the project.
I couldn't agree more danadotcom.... It was a wonderful collaboration. I think it should be released again.
