That fucker sounds awsome...I want one!
-
How much would an engine like this weigh round about
-
Do they burn tons of fuel compared to a 4-stroke motor? That thing sounds like its sucking down fuel.
-
that thing is a monster
-
is the valve covers off of a 71 series?
-
@VDZRIDER not that high actually. they sound so high revving because they are 2 strokes. So take a four stroke and compare it to this... this engine will sound twice as fast as the four stroke even thought is at the same rpm.
-
weve had some of ours to 4250 with not trouble.but that was only on the test rack.they turn between 28 and 32 in the boat we just finished
-
this would power a nice small tug in the 30-35 ft range..i believe the 6v-53 is about 212 hp nat. aspirated..may i ask how i set up my cat diesel to run it as you have done?? its a cat 4600 marine engine 75 hp..any info on starting it up would be it great help...never started a running take out before...

Detroits are 2-stroke designs, so the RPM is the same but sounds twice as fast. Some like it, some don't... personally I would never own something so loud.

Detroit Diesel (and Allison transmission) are both GM products! I am amazed at all of the ford and dodge people who try to say that GM doesn't or never has built their own diesel engines.
