thanks for a great looking pattern idea! And a double thank you for crocheting the way I do! How do some of those people hold their yarn and hook in such odd ways? haha! I get so caught up in watching the odd way of holding that I can't concentrate on the lesson - just me being anal! thanks again

ok i just go back into crocheting and am teaching myself. So I was wondering how do you switch the colors, and how many do you chain? After you chain do you start the pattern right away? My biggest thing is how do i switch the colors and how much of each color do i need. Thanks

I was just wondering is there a pattern that you're following from a book? Also why does the videos jump from 1-13? I am trying to follow the videos so I can get at least an idea how to continue the rows.
I just love the colors that you chose to make this with.

Thanks! You rock. :) It was your videos that not only taught me to crochet but inspired me to do this project. I just uploaded a video response; hope I did it right since it was my first.
5 months ago I could not crochet.. today I can because of you.. Thanks!

I will post a video. I finished off the top by doing 7 sc where the sc are and then a chain of 3 joined to the top of the shell (4th dc) chain of 3 then 7 sc and so forth. Worked out very nicely.
Then, since I was doing a flag, I wanted a border of gold and gold fringe. I just did sc all the way around (3 sc in corners) and then followed up with dc all the way around on rnd 2. I put a single fringe in each dc. Later i added a loop stitch so I can hang it from a rod for display.
This is a great video and great pattern.
I am using this pattern on a US Flag using the ratios outlined in an Executive Order of 1:1.9 (the blanket/flag is 93" long and will be about 50" wide). The blanket/flag looks great and have received a number of compliments on it so far. I have 10 of 13 stripes done.
My question - how do I finish this off? Is there a series of chain stitches? Half-double crochet? Can you share or point me where this is illustrated and/or explained?
Thanks!

COOOOOOOL! I would finish it off with a single line going over the wave... I have no examples of it being shown... but that is how I finished this blanket off. I finished the border with a mixture of the two threads at the same time doing a half double crochet all the way around.
