Sophia, who has Cerebral Palsy, uses an Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO) in her therapy.

An AFO is a plastic brace that is worn on the lower leg and foot. It provides corrective alignment and positioning for people with neurological injury such as Cerebral Palsy and Stroke.

In this video, Sophia wears an AFO and walks between her parents, Hulet Smith (Occupational Therapist) and Megan Smith (Physical Therapist).

  • shes soooo cute!!

  • give her vit d3 - research.

  • CP is caused by lack of oxygen to brain during birth.

  • Lol I used to walk like that!!

  • My daughter is 3 and she walks JUST like that! We are always so proud of her when she walks. She is so determined, just like this girl.

  • @Th3Concluion

do you know anything about Cerebral Palsy? let me answer that 'no' because if you did you wouldn't say things like this. She is lucky to walk at all many people with CP can't. and on your comment there are plenty of things you can do if you can't walk properly. and even still it's early days so she's gonna get better anyway. and you clearly don't know what your going on about so just shut up

  • precious. :)

  • Sophia seem to have what is called scissoring ie abnormal muscle tone that causes the legs to cross when a child is upright or standing. Usually seen in children who has Cerebral Palsy. (RN- BSN Student)

  • she prob had probs of wallking when she was little

  • I was wondering how old was she when she started to walk..thank U...She's doing Great & I wish you all the best of luck....
