@preo2 Curtis Parker was a great fighter and banger who unfortunately for him was starched in spectacular manner by John Mugabi, one of history's hardest hitting men. He also lost a spirited fight to Alex Ramos.
wow, I waited for 29 years to see this fight again. I did not attend a trip to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico with the Puerto Rican boy scouts just to watch this and got fired for that. I just wished they had the HBO entrance before the fight to complete a fine upload!!!
@slimer84 I remember Curtis Parker. He was a pretty tough fighter. Yeah youtube has fights that I haven't seen in years, If you wanna see a good ol' school scrap on here type in Jaime Garza vs Juan Meza. It was like Hagler-Hearns!
They were definitely hyping it up on the broadcast of his (Dwight Qawi) brother Tony Braxton's fight with Curtis Parker which, although a very good fight, is not at this level. Just watched it actually. Got to love youtube and all of its fantastic posters. Thanks guys!
Man, this fight was BIG deal back then. I think people forget what a big fight this was. Both guys were on a tear in the LHW division and were on a collision coarse much like Hearns and Leonard were in '81.
I saw this fight at Sportsman's Park race track in Cicero IL. They had it on the big screen and you got to see it along with the horse racing. Thanks for posting this. Hadn't seen this in years.
It's funny how almost every fight SRL was commenting he said, " I wouldn't be surprised if something happens in the first round"......lol
