  • I get blisters on the 'arch' of my foot. I've tried wearing thicker socks but they still occur. They're skate hired

  • @vincent7487 If you have a low arch, than I it's really hard to solve this problem unless you buy custom hockey skates, which I think might be possible. You'll have to investigate.

  • my coach said to warm them up a lil at home with an hairdryer and then to try them on so they can loosen... and i figured out that maybe is the back of the skate which is hard..that is a lil too tight and pushes "down" on my heel... do you think is a good idea? He said that new skates often hurt...even to proskaters...

  • @zazzolina No, I wouldn't advise using a hair dryer unless you're really careful. I suppose if you put the hair dryer on the warm setting instead of the hot setting, you can try that. It would help to mold the skate around your foot. If the bottom of your heel is hurting, you can try buying a thicker insert. That might work. They're also called heel cushions. You can buy them on Amazon.

  • Good tips Dan, I am going to try those items.

  • @cragmac1000 Just know that you can't buy "heel huggers." Those are an engineering application created by the manufacturer. It's a process by which padding is added in the achilles tendon area.

  • @zazzolina If you have custom figure skates, take them back to the manufacturer or place where you bought them from and describe to them your problem. Likely you either have the wrong arch on your skate, or the ankle lock in your figure skates isn't working right. There's a thing called "heel huggers" which can resolve this. You can also try gel discs as you have mentioned before.

  • Hey, thank you for the video. I have a question... it's 3 months i'm doing figure ice skating... and i just bought my first pair of regoular and serious ice skates... so i'm not used at the heel they have... i tried them for the first time yesterday and the back of my foot hurt really bad... underneath the heel ... i think it's because the ones i used to rent they were flat...do u have any advise? should i buy a gel disk like those to put underneath my heel?

  • @00FireSong00 Have you bought the supplies yet?

  • Thanks so much for this. I just got new skates and I'm not at all used to the amount of support they have (plus breaking skates in is no fun either). I think I'll try this on the ice tomorrow, thanks again!
