Aquí el maestro catalán José Carreras canta esta canción que pertenece al musical The Phantom of The Opera de Andrew Lloyd Webber, del Álbum "Jose Carreras Sings Andrew Lloyd Webber" de 1990.

Lyrics:

Music of The Night

Night time sharpens, heightens each sensation
Darkness wakes and stirs imagination
Silently the senses abandon their defences
Helpless to resist the notes I write
For i compose the Music of the Night
Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour
Grasp it, sense it, tremulous and tender
Hearing is beliveing, music is decieving,
Hard as lightning, soft as candlelight,
Dare you trust the Music of the Night
Close you eyes for your eyes will only tell the truth
And the truth isn't what you want to see,
In the dark it is easy to pretend..
That the truth is what it ought to be.
Softly, deftly, music shall caress you
Hear it, feel it, secretly possess you
Open up your mind, let your fantasies unwind
In this darkness which you know you cannot fight
The darkness of the music of the night
Close your eyes start a journey through a strange, new world
Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before
Close your eyes and let music set you Free....
Only then can you belong to me.
Floating, falling, sweet intoxication
Touch me, trust me, savour each sensation
Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in
To the power of the music that I write
The power of the music of the night

Help me make the music of the night....

  • Woah, the harmonics in the high note almost destroyed my poor speakers.

  • For Esclarmonde 1 Every Dime Jose earned, including his money from the Three Tenors...went to Leukemia Research...he spent most of his life.. Giving Back...

It is a Pity that you posted such an ignorant statement......

    from one who was there.....................

  • We will miss you!!! you are one of the best tenors of our times. I am glad I lived to see it. Have a wonderful time in your retirement.

  • If he wishes to sing this pop song, he should sing it in understanable English. Poor Carreras, what a pity he did not sing good opera instead of selling out for money.

  • I agree, he would have made an excellent phantom. He has the acting skills ( see Juliàn Gayarre) and no question about the voice - tons better than Michael Crawford who went down a storm in London. He does not have a strong Catalan accent when he sings in English -I'm an English teacher and his pronunciation is excellent. Anyway, who cares....just enjoy the beauty of his voice. Visca Catalunya. And don't forget to get on the list of platelet/bone marrow donors.

  • Mr Carreras is one of the truly great tenors -I find it sad that no-one will acknowledge this until it is too late - he already had a near miss so appreciate what beautiful phrasing, perfect pitch and incredible emotion this man imparts....thank you for your beautiful voice and your incredible humanity -for me, better than Di Stephano and your idols.

  • He is still handsome--more than ever, I think. He wears his age well. His voice is a thing of great beauty. I only wish I'd known of him before. I feel I've missed out by not knowing of him sooner in my life...

  • Eccellente!!!

    Grazie! :)

  • @steppewolfy He still is quite handsome, even when he's now almost 64 years old. :)

  • Gosh, he's so sexy! Especially when he smiles so softly :)
