@KiwiIngenuity1 - Paragliders are very with both ridge and thermal lift. I fly in the southwestern US (mostly California and Utah) and I've had mountain (thermalling flights) that have lasted around ninety minutes and I've had ridge flights that have topped out over two hours. My friends (much more skilled pilots) have had mountain flights that have lasted hours.

Hey mate, how effective are paragliders and ridge soaring, wave soaring and thermalling? I really want to get into paragliding. I did a flight in Queenstown but we pretty much jumped off the hill and did some turns and had some fun on the way down. I dont imagine this accurately represented their ability to stay up all day... can they?
