I'm pretty sure the spectators on the corner had their own triangles. Later on, you see them telling Jodie Shay (in the red Golf near the end) to stay in the car when he goes to put his out.

To the folks who were on that corner: good job. Looks like you saved a bunch of teams from DNFs.

If I remember the CARS rules correctly, you are supposed to collect your safety triangle before going back out on stage.

Funny how that rule gets bent to hell by all the front running teams... but if you are behind and do the same, watch out!!!
