  • always good to see female pickers

    5*****

  • I agree.

  • simply great ....

  • Agreed!

  • Great job by all. I think it's important to note that this song was written by Robert Johnson, one of the really old acoustic blues men from back in the 1800's and early 1900's. Bluegrass all comes from blues music, it's pretty amazing really.

  • Yes it is. Thanks for the rest of the info. I love both bluegrass & blues & love to sing bluegrass with a touch of the blues - great combination.

  • @llarzelere LOL Robert Johnson couldn't play bluegrass. He sucked as a blues pickers also.

  • pickin it like 2nd nature.. :) very nice

  • One great song..... it don't get no better.

  • @llarzelere

I think you may have been misinformed. He was most likely born in 1911 and died in 1938, although there is some dispute as to whether he might have been born a little later, in 1912. He was recorded in 1936 and 1937, while the Sheiks started their recording career in 1930, and it was in that year they recorded "Sitting on Top of the World." Speaking of good banjo picking, Roscoe Holcomb did a pretty killer version of this song.

  • @lastfirstface ... You're right on both counts. Robert Johnson was only 27 when he died in 1927.

However, Katie Norton is purely awesome on banjo!

  • sing it terry, cant wait 4 another concert at work brother.

  • @bigdjindustriez Robert Johnson was not from "way back in the 1800s," nor did he write this song. It was written by Lonnie Chatmon and Walter Vinson of the Mississippi Sheiks and recorded in 1930.

  • katie your awesome on the banjo!

  • katie your awesome on the banjo.
