They are strategically launched in a trajectory where the stage separations will either hit the ocean or run through a burn up in the atmosphere while the parts also hit the ocean away from commercial shipping routes. so it's not likely that these things will ever land in your backyard ahahha.
I'm pretty sure Ares 1 will be scrapped in favor of using a Delya IV Heavy, now that a military general will be in charge of NASA. lI believe the pentagon will now be calling the shots!!
