Clearly, Mahalia sings it the way she feels it. You can't ask more than that of anyone. Her sincerity did more for the furtherance of the faith than a thousand pulpit preachers ever could. Boy,but did we ever need her more than today!

@aardvaark069 - whoa whoa ... hold on ... you must understand. At that time, I highly doubt that anyone in that audience had ever seen such a singer of religious music. They are not bored, but spell bound, & it shows on their faces. I am not a religious person, nor do I subscribe to Ms. Mahalia's belief's, but it doesn't matter. She is miraculous nonetheless, & one doesn't need to get up & act crazy to appreciate her. She leaves me in tears, & the audience to! :)
