I'm not a huge country listener, but I dig the fuck out of Hank III. Most know him from his stint in Superjoint Ritual and as a guest on some other artists' work. His solo stuff hearkens back to his Grandad's legacy and continues in that vein.

@haloman9595 The WAY you write your music and the attitude you bring to the table is as important as the lyrics themselves. Larry Massey and a lot of other middle-aged people don't like "pop country" because they have this idealized notion that somehow the 60s and 70s in Nashville were the "good old days" and it has gone downhill since then. I'd argue the Nashville scene, especially the Opry, has always produced boring, conservative, polite, predictable music since it was created.

Hank III's not a great artist but he's a unique one. Whoever the fuck Larry Massey is, he sounds like 500 other country musicians since the 1970s.
