In the final minutes of Friday, June 12, 2009 KDKA, broadcasting on VHF Channel 2 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, ceased analog NTSC television broadcasts shortly after 11:59 PM eastern time, in accordance with FCC requirements.

This is that last analog signal, received by myself a little over 2 miles from their transmitter, recorded to my computer in DV format, and edited for time (the actual"signing-off" bits are untouched. I just cut down on the Letterman clips and commercials beforehand. If you want to skip Letterman entirely, just skip forward to around 3:07) The time at the bottom should be a fairly accurate indicator of the local time when it was broadcast.

  • Probably the best analog sign off out of any station in the country. Grew up watching this station whenever I would go back and see my relatives. Leave it to KDKA to do something like this.

  • I'm so proud to be a Pittsburgher.
