Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein led Disco Biscuits guitarist Jon Gutwillig, String Cheese Incident keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth, Umphrey's McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger and Russo through a series of Phish covers under the name the HeadCount All Stars. Brownstein, who has shied away from covering Phish over the years, described the group as his "favorite band" and led the charge through spot-on renditions of "Wilson," "Run Like An Antelope," "2001," and "Maze, " the latter of which also featured Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner. Throughout the performance, moe. lighting director, and former Jambands.com News Editor, Jeff Waful manned the board from the rear of the house.

  • yeah phish phans can be the biggest bunch of elitist pricks in the world. take a chill pill or 5 and enjoy the jams, these guys are just having some fun

  • Pretty impressive, despite a different sound than Phish. Amazing song. Amazing musicians. But what do I know, I'm just a credible musician, making a more-than-decent living at it, who happens to love Phish AND a number of other bands, too. Open your eyes, people.

  • @phildafunk27 because Jake is way better than Barber, duh.

  • Sad to see all the Phish fans flaming because this is not Phish. There is other music. Their interpretation of a Phish song may be different than Phish's. That doesn't make it bad. Some of the stuff they do here is actually pretty cool. Stop being so blinded by your devotion to a band far out of its prime.

Coming from someone who is blindly devoted to tDB and also loves Phish.

  • Sad to see those out there slamming these guys for jamming for our entertainment.... I realize they are not PHISH, but I'm pretty sure none of these guys have ever played this song as much as them...........

  • these guys are awesome, so what if they cant do a phish song as well as phish.. brownie prly holds em back at least a little, doesnt mean i dont love him

  • jake is the best of the best.

  • @mwagon the problem with your theory is that you have Barber, Browny, and Magner, and they could all be done without, any other bass player would do.......Jake, Russo, and Kyle are all some of the best at their respective instruments, and could do plenty of justice to Phish, not to mention they haven't been playing together for 20+ years.........fyi, Jake could wipe the floor with Trey

  • @DDD0323 as you said licks. that is the fuckin problem here bud

  • god some people are snobs, can't you just be happy with a lot of great artists paying tribute to another great band?
