LION (Unheard): That's all I am. That's all I'll ever be...just a big ol' pussycat! (Sobbing.)
DOROTHY: No, you won't.
LION: I won't?
DOROTHY: You were really afraid of those awful Kalidahs, but--but you didn't run. You did the very best you could. Lion, the true test of courage IS doing something when you're afraid.
"BE A LION"
There is a place we'll go
Where there is mostly quiet
Flowers and butterflies
A rainbow lives beside it
And from a velvet sky a summer storm
I can feel the coolness in the air
But I'm still warm
And then a mighty roar will start the sky to cryin'
But not even lightning will be frightening my lion!
And with no fear inside, no need to run, no need to hide
You're standing strong and tall
You're the bravest of them all
And if on courage you must call then just keep on
Tryin' and tryin' and tryin'
You're a lion...in your own way, Be a Lion
Come on, be a lion, for all of us! Come on!
I'm standing strong and tall (strong and tall)
I'm the bravest of them all
If on courage I must call (call)
I'll keep on tryin' (tryin') and tryin' (tryin') and tryin'
I'm a lion
In my own way...
Be a Lion!!
To Shelee: What a beautifully inspiring comment you made. I believe that God is using you as well to touch others. I love this song. I'm 51 also. I've seen the play numerous times back in the 70s and have been listening to this song everyday since. Thank you for sharing and God Bless.

When I was a child the Lion was my favorite character because I saw myself in the lion....I did not have the courage to stand up against a lot of my peers or my fears. But the lion was the one that encouraged me. Now my courage cones from God. Thanks to the writer, producer and actor for allowing God to use them to minister to me through this character. I am currently 51 years old.
