From the Wheel In Motion DVD. The song is from 'The Big Wheel'(1991).

When you close your eyes there's a frightened pride that lives for you
That your mother's life and your father's eyes can't hide
You had no choice didn't ask the dice too fall for you
Still your courage comes like thunder through the skies

Always the winner, the victor and the giver
Somewhere through that winter you'll never be alone
For evermore the winner
The taker and the giver
Somewhere through that winter you will not grow old

So you carry time down the tortured line where mysteries show
Well hidden from life's learned and life's wise
Mans useless ways and worthless conversation
Lie well exposed and humbled in your smile

(Chorus)

  • Yes, Calum and Rory Macdonald usually writes the music. They have recorded a few covers and re-arranged some traditional songs too.

  • makes u proud to be Scottish :-D

  • My favourite Scottish band maybe the Best ! Great sound forever !! Thank you so much ;-))

  • Great song, no question.

  • This reminds me of one of my best pals a big Jambo (Hearts fan) Who died of Cancer in 1997.

    RIP David Evans.

  • @andrew8833 - Haven't been to Skye (yet!) but my brother spent a week there last June in a cottage in the middle of nowhere & loved the peace & tranquility of it all. He was fortunate in that he had a week of glorious weather & said the scenery was just wonderful. He also went over to Harris which has some really beautiful beaches. The drive up to Oban & Fort William has some spectacular scenery with the rugged mountains, forests and lochs but maybe I'm a little biaised as that's what I like.

  • @LaFarfalla246 Ive been to skye twice, even went to a wedding not so long ago.

My father got talking to a local and they explained where Donnie's house is, its beautiful just on the bay too, its ace.

  • My sister was at university back in 1991 and was a massive Runrig fan so was always playing their records. Even though I loved their music too, hearing their songs always take me back to a period of my life when I was very, very ill.

  • I love the well written tunes that these guys knock out :-)

  • @ancien13dble

Your written English is better than our written German.
