That is why I specifically criticize those who sing in styles that I don't feel are commercially viable. Maybe you and I have a different understanding about what this contest is about, but that is my understanding. If I'm told it's about something else I will refocus my critiques.

You make a good point Eron, and since this is partly directed at me let me explain my thinking. It is my understanding that this competition is supposed to mimic American Idol as closely as possible. That has been said by Cree since the beginning, and it is repeatedly said. The point of AI is to find and develop artists for record deals. I have no problem with people singing in any style they like, but some are commercially viable and others are not.

i so agree..U are soo right..I think thats what they judging off to see how ppl can sing one genre or another..I just hope saying that I did audition for season 7 i plannin to stick to many 2 genre's and that is..But I hope I dont get judged on my Style of music or anything..

I think a good example of someome singing out of their style but still winning this contest was Elisha...People did not always agree with how she sang a song but I don't think there was anyone who said she can't sing in all these fields so she should not win....hopefully this made sense...lol.....rich

I think that the judges are allowed to set thier own standards for what they like. I tend to prefer rock style singers myself and will more than likely lean towards keeping people of that style in the competition AS LONG AS THEY ARE GREAT SINGERS. That said if a "broadway" singer outsings a favorite "rocker" or any other style singer then I'm probably gonna vote them out... Really whats great is none of the judges likes exactly the same thing...

It is important to know what genre people feel most comfortable in....BUT i do feel you have to have some kind of variety (at least in your genre)because not every song on an album is going to be exactly the same.

At the end of the day, the singer has to go with their gut. Its important to listen to what some of what they judges have to say if its an occuring thing....its just as important not to lose yourself either.

What I like about this competition is that we see so many different styles and contestants....yipes if they were all the same how boring....and what i also like is the judges as a panel have different views and expectations just as judges on american idol....they disagree on a number of things.....everyone has the right to state an opinion , it is then up to the contestant to do whatever they wish with that critique....some will use it and some will just wipe their ..ss with it :)

Eron i totally agree with you other people shouldn't tell other people which style they should sing it in. I have a chior voice eron and i am trying to change it to speech level singing and i am working on both styles but thats what other people wants to sing it in. I want to enjoy singing that is what it matters thank-you so much eron for the great video and i hope your doing well Quadracer687 (Laura)
