Phil Beer solo "Blind Fiddler" .....a Hoyt Axton song

"Folk legends Show of Hands stop off at Gloucester Cathedral on October 21 as part of their Spires and Beams tour.

The city's historic building is one of five cathedrals visited by Phil Beer, [Miranda Sykes] and Steve Knightley in their latest musical trip around the country.

This acclaimed duo is in demand wherever they play, including three sell-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall. This year they also scooped two awards at the BBC Radio 2's Folk Awards to add to their long list of achievements.

These former Gloucestershire residents , who were voted Best Duo and Best Original Song at the BBC awards, will also be visiting Exeter, Wells, Sheffield and Peterborough during the month-long tour.

Singer-songwriter Steve Knightley and multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer will also be playing at 12 churches across England.

Sensitive to the venue's unique acoustics, the pair will play an eye-defying multitude of instruments from slide guitar to fiddle, mandolin to South American cuatro as they cross numerous musical genres.

Accompanied by double bass player and vocalist Miranda Sykes, the folk roots act will be showcasing their Arrogance, Ignorance and Greed album released last year.

It will include the title track -- a no-holds barred song about bankers and bonuses and MPs and expenses, which saw them featured on BBC's Breakfast TV.

They will also be delving into their rich back catalogue of original material and unveiling some new songs from the Knightley pen.

The boys will also be joined by fellow Devon musician Jackie Oates at Gloucester, providing them with the chance to sing their theatrical Keys of Canterbury duet live for the first time. Steve and Phil met as teenagers playing in different bands in Exeter, but then went their separate ways, disillusioned by a disastrous tour. "
